Culinary experts say that Swedish beefsteak Lindström is of Russian origin. Its creator Henrik Lindström (1831–1910) was born and grown up in Saint-Petersburg. Having come back to Sweden he asked his chef to cook beefsteaks in Russian style with unusual ingredients – pickled beet and capers. Such beefsteaks were a success and entered restaurants’ menus.
